Rabbit, Snowy

Definitely the least bashful of the boys, Snowy is certainly the boss and doesn't show any brotherly kindness towards Phil when we have tried to re-introduce the rabbits!  A rabbit who certainly likes his food, he really makes us laugh at meal times when he tries to “paw” his bowl out of your hand in an attempt to get fed quicker.

Snowy chomping on a leafSnowy is the most difficult of our rabbits to catch when we need to move him around in his living quarters. He will come to us when it suits him to do so, usually when there are treats on offer.

SnowyBorn: April 2007

Gender: Male (Buck)

Breed: Dwarf Lop Rabbit

Appearance: Snowy is white with shiny black eyes, big floppy ears and grey/black markings on his back. A few battle scars can also be felt under his fur.

Personality: He is a cheeky boy and bounces around his pen like a wild hare. Very, very inquisitive and fun to watch. Sinks into a trance-like state when stroked on his belly.

Favourite Food: He loves the food pellets he gets in the mornings when we open the hatch!

Habits: Snowy loves to put his rabbit scent on EVERYTHING. It's really comical to see him even "chinning" a piece of straw just to claim it as his own! He loves it when we clean out the cages and run and hops about all over the place - he is especially good at jumping in the dustpan!

SnowyNaughtiest Moments: He escaped and ran round the wildlife garden. He soon realised that the grass wasn't greener when our dog, Molly caught sight of him. We were relieved that he ran straight back into his hutch.

PhilLike his brother Phil and Charlie, Snowy had to be castrated at 5 month old for the sake of harmony in the living quarters.

Despite this, even now some 2 months after the castration, unfortunately they are still not getting on together and are having to be kept apart. Of the three Snowy is the naughtiest when it comes to fighting and he can be a touch aggressive with them although he never is with us. It seems like an entirely different rabbit when you separate them from a little tiff and he sits "innocently in your arms enjoying being stroked.
