I have 11 dwarfies at the moment, and love everyone of them. I would love to hear some stories about everyone's dwarfies and if you have pictures of them and/or their set up would love to see them. I really love to see the awesome homes some dwarves get to live in, so I figured this would be a good place to see some well loved hamsters. So show me your babies! Or, if you already have pics uploaded possibly share a link?

Here is mine (I hope this works):

I want to make a bin cage since I want my hamster to have a lot of space. But I'm scared that it will get hurt with the mesh wire. I want to add some mesh wire to front and back to have good ventilation and maybe at the top of the bin as well. I also would like to know where to buy the bin and the mesh wire from. Can I get them at home depot?

update on orphaned Dwarf babies

Well, sadly 4 of my orphaned babies have passed But....we do have 1 lone survivor full of vigor. I am posting this as an FYI post for anybody that might ever be in this situation. I did everything I could to save these babies. This morning I had 3, 2 of them had distended abdomens. I peed and pooped them , then fed them, then they died, right after eating. So sad, however, as I said, there is one left. Her abdomen is not at all distended, but when I fed her, she looked like she was lying down to die, so thinking there is nothing to lose, I picked her up, brought to her my lips and began kissing her and breathing on her and she bounced right back!!! She has been doing great since I discovered this new method of bonding with her. I just wish I did this with the other 4, but God has a plan, right?? Anyway, for any of you dealing with this unfortunate situation, dont be afraid to bring the babies close to you. Another FYI, per Catherine's suggestion, I fed her some ground sunflower seeds mixed with a dab of baby apple sauce and KMR, she grabbed the eye dropper and tried to eat it!!!! Just hope and pray she makes it, she will truly be a miracle. Thank you Catherine and Molldoll for your support..

Julie

Hi, I am new here, and I need some input please on our 5 baby Dwarf hamsters. My daughter discovered them a few days ago while cleaning out mom's cage. We have had her apart from the dad, so we were totally shocked. Sadly, our cat, (who will not be our cat much longer, she is up for adoption now) she pulled the mom through the cage wires, the ate what she could access. Just tragic and awful. The babies are not totally pink, they have whiskers, and a fine layer of fuzz, their eyes are not open yet. I have been able to feed them with KMR using an eyedropper. Does anyone know about how old they would be ? I read if they are a week old, their chances of survival will be good. They also have little teeth on the bottom. I also read they can have millet after a week??? I need help with the amount of KMR, the intervals, and how warm to keep their cage. Any input would be so grateful

Thank in advance

Julie
