Hatching your own chicks is not as difficult as you might think. All you need is a fertilised egg, Tiger our cockerel, is very obliging there for us, a incubator and some kind of brooder for the baby chicks, which can be as simple as a cardboard box with a heat lamp.
Here is some video of our last batch of chicks hatching and growing up to about 8 weeks. It's incredible how quickly they grow!

Yeah, hatching chicks is really great, if you have the room definitely its worth a shot! We have done it 3 times, 1 2 and 3 chicks. Oh how velvet primrose and amber have grown!!!

I have always wished to have chickens and chicks, but we just don't have the room, at least I get to see your baby chicks grow :)

Next time we hatch some I'm going to cover it with a webcam Sophie so you can get a real time idea of what it is like.

Yeah, its a great expiriance and I am glad we can share it with people who are not able to do it themself. I love the little chicks, although they are so big now! Primrose has lost his little chick face and now has the beautiful face of a cockerel.
