I just got a new rabbit! He is really scared and he keeps going under his house and won't come out. How can I stop him from doing that and calm him down?
Yeah I think the obvious answer is because he's scared.. and you only just got him right..? So yeah I think that's it. It takes like a couple of days or even weeks for small animals to settle in properly and get used to the enviroment they now live in .
Rabbits are extreamly nervouse animals and most do not like beying handled unlesss handled at a young age. you say she used to me a wild rabbit? you mean he has been taken directly from the wild?
Like Tomm asked, she was a wild rabbit? What type of wild rabbit, do you know? That is likely the reason, then. If the rabbit was born wild, there is no way you will be able to change her instinct to flee from humans; she thinks of them as enemies. Does the rabbit, by any chance, have the same coloring as these two? (Click on the pic to enlarge it)

Try boarding up the holes when Sandy is out. Then he can't get under.
My pets:
Otis male Great Pyrenees, Daisey female St.Bernard cross with a Mastiff. Jinx male cat, Brat female cat, Tonks female cat, Smudge female cat, Radar male cat, Spike female cat.Whiskers, Babe, Jackson,Wyatt, and Chilco horses. R.I.P Slugger male St.Bernard cross
Swish, she is still considered taken 'directly' out of the wild, even if someone else did it. The reason she would be lighter than those two, is because she is likely older. These my sister and I found in the beanfields about a year ago (we were working there), and we took them home to let back into the wild where they would be safe from our boss shooting them (they gave us permission, don't worry ).
Where do you have him that he is in danger of being eaten? Most animals can be won over with treats and quiet patience. Talk softly and make the rabbit want to be with you.
