My Ralphie passed away a few days ago.  He was my special piggies and I miss him so much.  He was such a kind gentle little old thing and loved him so much.  He was roughly around six so he had a good long life with me.  I will miss him though so much.  RIP

Ya it really is.  Ages between 5-8 are pretty good.  8 being a bit more rare.  One of my piggies, Susie, lived to be 8.  She was such a sweet old girl but yea he really did have a nice long life.

Just be glad he came to you instead of one of those animal abusers you hear about all the time on the news. He was a very lucky piggie to be your pet.

We do get attatched to our pets. We know it is not forever, but part of us wishes for just a little more time. He will be forever in your heart and you gave him a full and wonderful life.

I'm so sorry to hear about Ralphie. You gave him a good life and who could ask for more? My grandmother always said that she didn't know if animals lived too long a life for us or too short. Too long because we got  so attached to them, or too short because we were so attached to them. I think too short but I can see what she meant.

Yes, never heard that. Still think its to short! I think it somes in up with hammies in my mind, you just get long enough to get really attached. Then they are gone in what seems like no time at all after.
No time seems long enough though.

tbh even if my hamster lived a week i'd be attached to her, and so sad if anything happened. So it's always too short for me.

This is so true. I find my self affected by the loss of an animal that I helped when it was dying. It wasn't even my pet. I wish we could have saved her.

Good old grandmother wisdom. It is so true and so profound.

A little late but wanted to add my sympathies too on the loss of Ralphie.   I'm sure he had a fabulous life with you & felt very loved, as you say, you have wonderful memories of him.

It is so true that you can get attached to any animal very quickly & be sad at it's passing, we found a mouse in the courtyard that seemed to have something wrong with it's back legs, we put it in a box with bedding, food, water & a den but it passed away a few hours later which had me in tears. But better that than a person who feels nothing at the passing of a life, no matter how small.

There is always comfort in knowing that we gave a pet a good long life or at  least as long as is possible. The sad part is missing the pet and wishing for just a little more time.
