We were at another agricultural and horticultural show today fairly local to us in a lovely village called Sedgefield. It is an annual event but this was our first time there and we really enjoyed it although, it did rain almost constantly which was a real pity. I will be posting much more about it on the forum and in the blog but one of the sections that we really enjoyed was the poultry.
Game fowl can look very different to chickens and to some people are a bit of an acquired taste but we did meet a lovely 14 year old boy together with his father and grandfather who knew loads about poultry and game fowl and they had won some prizes and were good enough to let me take some pictures of some of their winning birds, so here they are:
First prize winning Modern English Game Fowl
Japanese Game Fowl - Shamo
Prize winning Silkie chicken
I think I've got the names of the game fowl correct, but the boy said that he would drop in on the forum and correct me if I got them wrong.

Wow, those are incredible birds. They are quite stunning. And definitely not your usual back yard chickens. I am constantly amazed at the great variety that exists in the animal kingdom...especially the chickens.
Wow, well done you, not quite my cup of tea, apart from the Silkie which is gorgeous, i've never seen birds quite like this, i'm more of a cuddly fluffy sort of gal, but well done you,.
