Here are just a few more pictures of our new piglets. They move pretty fast and are almost as hard to get in focus as hamsters!
One of the pictures shows the effects of their rooting in what was a grassy enclosure.

John

I think they are gaining a lot of weight each day.  I weighed them a couple of days ago - they are over 2 stones (13kgs) and only 9 weeks old.  It's no wonder as their main pre-occupation in life seems to be food.  They seem to love bananas (plus the skin) and pears best of all.

I can see that they are budding "gardeners". How wonderful for your garden. After you have harvested a patch, I suppose you could let them do the job of rooting out the roots. Do they do weeds as well. They really are a cute little pair. I like the name Kune Bellied pig. Any idea about how big they will grow?

I thought they were small pigs. That is pretty heavy. How heavy do big pigs get? I am guessing much heavier than I expect. Interesting that the dogs don't see them as something to be herded. Pigs are smart enough and capable enough to look after themselves.

Not exactly house pet size. So where did the idea come about that pigs can be house pets? I am picturing a 350 lb pig on the bed with you. It rolls over and a)the bed collapses b)the bed tips over or c)you end up with three broken ribs and other crush injuries. Is that why there is such a push to create minny pigs? How big are the pot bellied pigs?

Do you realize the size difference between your new piggies and my "new" tarantula. Animal lovers are sure not restricted to any size category.

I want an elephant

I know pot bellied pigs get quite large as well.. not as big as regular farm piggies, but still quite big.
They have pygmy pigs now.. There's a pig book in the store.. They're very fragile animals.. and they need lots of running room. I don't think I could have one.. not until I get my farm, anyway

Diane would also love an elephant but we do have to draw the line somewhere
Yes the miniature pigs are far more realistic as house pets, but believe it or not there are people who do keep full size pigs indoors!

You're right.. Although.. you would definetly have much more room than I would

I think for now, I should stick to going to the zoo to see the elephants.

And our six elephant girls are well worth seeing. I loved the sight of them eating snow this winter.

Of course we won't eat them!!!!! They are our lovey pet pigs =-). All our animals are kept as pets. The pigs are gorgeous, they are getting really tame now, Lottie is the tamest but Betty is tame too. And the standard pig is 350 pounds, but Kune Kunes are a small breed and don't grow no where near as big.

I love you Gemmy, Joe, Lucy, Rest In Peace
Love you trouble, no Syrian could ever be as special as you xxx
