We put primrose on ad trader in hope that we would find somebody looking for a pet cockerel to join some hens. Yesterday we had a call from a person who has a group of 8 hens and is looking for a pet cockerel to keep them in order. Primrose just left today about 2 mins ago. He will be free ranging 1 acre of beautiful woodland - he is one lucky boy! And it will be a nice change for him to have a big flock of girls, as he is only used to having charge of two (or so he thinks!). The people seem really nice and he is definetly a lucky boy, flock of girls, woodland to roam + they are thinking of calling him something a little more manly. If tiger new that primrose was going to end up with a bigger bunch of hens that he does I am sure he wouldn't pick on him! We will miss Primrose but we have been allowed a visit to him if we are up near his new home .
♥♥ I love you Gemmy, Joe, Lucy, Rest In Peace Love you trouble, no Syrian could ever be as special as you xxx
It is hard to let him go isn't it even though it is the best thing possible for him. I am glad you can visit him or at least keep in touch to know how he is doing. It sounds like he has "landed in cream" so to speak. He is one lucky rooster and I bet he will be very happy there.
The new owners of Primrose, our cockerel who had to be rehomed, have very kindly sent us an upate on he is doing. He has been with them now for 5 days and has apparently settled in really well. The hens have accepted him as leader withour any trouble and he seems very happy. Here is a picture of Primrose in his new home and with his new girls:
Doesn't he look happy. They are trying to choose a new name, but he will always be Primrose to us

Aww why are they changing his name? I would keep it the same.
And why did you have to re-home him?
There is another thread about Primrose called "Having two cockerels just doesn't work" where we explain, as is commonly (if not always) the case two cockerels will fight often to the death, so as the younger cockerel Primrose had to go. It will be a better life for him than looking out for Tiger as our chickens free range and we didn't want to lock him up.
