Catherine said:The first litter is special, enjoy. I would be interested in a hamster forum and I will gladly answer questions. I think the hamster in the video is the mom. Look at the adult from behind, the fur curves under and looks round in a female. The fur on a male curves out like a fringe so the back end looks pointed. It is hard to tell in some colours.

Thanks Catherine, that is very encouraging for us. We have followed your advice so far and will continue to do so. Any pics of your own hamsters? If so, we would love them for our guests animal gallery section. We are also launching the discussion forum in the next week or so and your expertise would be very much appreciated in the hamster section.

You are doing very well. The babies will walk at 7-10 days and eyes open at 10 days. The food dish must be low enough and the water bottle as well.No open water bowl, they drown very fast. They can crawl through the wire of most cages. If they can reach an opening block it with cardboard. You can handle them gently, it socializes them. Catherine(longtime Hamster Breeder)
